About Dr. Samuel Szeto
Dr. Samuel Szeto was an ice hockey athlete and scholar who held a PhD in Biochemistry. He believed that dedication to sport and dedication to academics were not competing priorities — they were complementary disciplines that made each other stronger. The Dr. Samuel Szeto Memorial Award carries forward that belief, recognising a KPK player each year who balances athletic commitment with academic excellence.
What We Honour
Selection Criteria
Recipients are chosen by the coaching staff based on strong academic standing, consistent effort and improvement on the ice, positive attitude and sportsmanship, and leadership among teammates. The award recognises the whole person — not just the best player, but the player who best embodies what it means to be a student-athlete.
